In simple words, ethics is related to philosophy which talks about right and wrong behavior. Just like ethics are important in all aspects of life, ethics is also important to be followed in the profession for teaching as well.  Ethics helps to do well in life and maintain a balance as well.

Ethics are important in teaching because the teachers are believed to play a strong influence in the lives of the children. A teacher lacking the basic ethical values can prove to be a very negative influence on the students which can urge them to go on the wrong path prohibited by society and their parents. A teacher with good ethical values can, however, play a very positive and constructive role in the life of their students making them model citizens as well.

Complete dedication and commitment towards the profession

A teacher should be completely dedicated and committed to their profession. They should fulfill all the duties that have been assigned to them with full responsibility and should make sure that they are not doing anything wrong.  They should mark the students with honesty, instead of showing biasedness towards any student.  The more they are dedicated and committed towards their profession, the more they will be successful in their lives and can even prove to be model teachers for their colleagues as well.

Cooperation with colleagues

Another one of the ethical values that this profession requires is cooperation with colleagues. The individual in the field should be very professional with the administration and his colleagues. All the rules and regulations that are set by the administration of the institute where it is school, college, or university should be strictly followed and should not at all create problems of any sort. They should also not speak ill about the staff working there and neither of the employer. Cooperation should be made a priority while interacting with anyone.

Interaction with parents

Parents always look up to the teachers for getting guidance; it is therefore included as an ethical duty of the teacher to interact positively with the parents. Help them out while deciding the future of their children and should not say something can be harmful to the students or their parents.

Teachers are the guiding light in a student’s life. Whatever they say can make or break a student’s life; therefore they must follow the ethical values that are the requirement of the teaching profession.
